Dr. James Hoeger is a business consultant who works with industry leaders, managers, and boards of directors to chart, navigate and guide activities to achieve successful outcomes.

He is a strategic planner, problem solver, innovator, and mentor who integrates with clients in diverse industries to transform their organizations through effective project and portfolio management.

  • Strategic Planning: Optimizing polyacrylate superabsorber process design for a major corporation and developing short-term and long-term strategic plans with economic impact and risk management assessments.
  • Process Design and Development: Designing Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams for the food and chemical industries.
  • Portfolio and Project Management: Managing small project portfolios and multi-million-dollar plant expansion projects. 
  • Process Safety: Facilitating process safety reviews in PSM-regulated and non-regulated sites.
  • Process Control: Programming and documenting DCS control systems.
  • Plant and Production Management: Managing plant and production facilities in the chemical industry, creating a safety culture, developing operational procedures, and training personnel.
  • Engineering Mentoring: Developing a mentoring program and mentoring several graduate engineers in career development with a focus on project management.

Qualifications

Dr. Hoeger earned his PhD in Business and Project Management from Capella University and  a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and a certified Project Management Professional.

Dr. Hoeger has facilitated training programs and has been a project management roundtable speaker.

Community Service

Dr. Hoeger serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization Guidance Carolina.  He is also active in Step-Up Greensboro and various other community service activities.

Personal Background

James resides in Greensboro, NC with his wife of 49 years.  He enjoys golf, travelling, and reading.
